CHINIOT: A local court on Tuesday acquitted five policemen, who publicly flogged accused at a Chiniot Police Station, over police failure to produce evidence against them.

In their statements, the eyewitnesses said that they had not seen any such incident.

It is reminded that SHO Razzak, Sub-Inspector Ubaidullah Kalyar, Constable Sajjad Ali Nool, Muhammad Afzal and Sarfaraz of a Chiniot Police Station were seen flogging accused Zeshan Haider, Zafar alias Bhutto and Abid Hussain publicly in a video aired by the media for several days.

The policemen were booked under anti-terrorism acts. The case was referred to the Session Judge, who then handed it over to Judicial Magistrate Babar Hussain.

After four hearings, those who were flogged by the accused policemen, said the flogging incident did not happen and termed it fake.

In addition, eyewitnesses Hakim Ali and Mansha denied that they had seen any such incident.

On this, Judicial Magistrate acquitted the policemen.

Either the victoms of flogging were threatened and intimidated or they were bribed, I beleive they were afraid of appearing in the court.
Still the court could have made a decision based on the video tape, live video tape was the best evidence itself but I guess judge was looking for an excuse to let the Police man go free.
I wonder if we ever going to get justice in a Muslim country Pakistan.

This is not astonishing, it’s normal routine in Pakistan. Policemen & their high officials always set free due to lack of evidences & witnesses. Who will dare to open his mouth against police in Pakistan, rather the eye witnesses will be awarded by handsome amount and extra ordinary facilities for shutting their mouth. There are many examples of such cases in Pakistan, the biggest one has started in SC to-day against Law Minister Babar Awan. Politicians give full support to Police to use them for their own interest, later on the same police become barbarians and get honourable release from the courts due to lack of evidences & witnesses. The whole system is wrong in Pakistan, no democratic govt can change it. It is only “DANDA OF LAW” that can make them straight other wise for get it.
