Apple’s iPad Device banned in Israel over Wi-Fi concerns

Imports of Apple’s latest must-have product, the iPad, have been banned by Israel over concerns that its powerful wireless signal could disrupt other devices.

At least 20 of the US-sold tablet computers have been seized from travellers by customs officials, who hold them for a fee.
The US allows wi-fi devices such as the iPad to broadcast at higher power levels than those allowed in Israel, meaning they could disrupt others people’s wireless connections, said Nati Schubert, communications ministry spokesman. He denied the ban was linked to trade.
