ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik Wednesday said there is
democracy in the country and that Nawaz Sharif can speak as strongly as
he pleases to.

Talking to media here, Rehman Malik welcomed
constructive criticism on the government, adding, ‘I hope Nawaz Sharif
will keep Charter of Democracy in view’.

He linked the
possibility of talks with Taliban with the latter’s laying down of
weapons. “Talks are not possible with anyone who is wielding a weapon in
one hand,” he added.

Rehman Malik expressed satisfaction on the
country’s law and order situation. He said improvement is to be made in
police performance.
