KARACHI: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik said Friday that a conspiracy was being hatched to create a rift between Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).Speaking to media after chairing a meeting at the Rangers Headquarter in Karachi, he said enemies want to destabilize the country, but the government will thwart such conspiracies.
He said Lyari deaths happened due to a girl’s illicit relation and advised the media not to give it a color of target killing without verification. The federal minister said that the government would take strict action against the Lyari-based gangsters.
He also called upon people from all schools of though to show restraint and thwart plot to disturb city’s peace.
“I am constantly in touch with MQM chief Altaf Hussain on the issue of Karachi killing, said Malik, adding that rangers have been dispatched to the affected areas.”
Pointing out the presence of almost two million illegal immigrants in Karachi, he warned that either they got themselves registered or immediately quit the country.
About Baldia Town blast, Malik said that Karachi remained safe from a major mishap as suicide vests, hand grenades and other arms were recovered from the scene of the blast. He said the owner of the destroyed house would also be arrested over renting his house to such elements.
To a question, the federal minister said that the final report of the Ashura tragedy had been prepared. No political party was responsible for Karachi arson, he said and added that Jaish-e-Muhammad, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Jindullah and other banned outfits could be involved.
