Apple have recently launched its new operating system iOS4 for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. The current system support a new app called iBooks which is available free from the iTune store. You may be already familiar with the iBooks and may have used it for reading ebooks downloaded from the Apple iBook Store. The books available at iBook store are in the ePub format. In order to read your PDF files via the iBooks you first need to transfer these files to your device i.e iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

How to transfer files from your computer to iPad, IPhone or iPod Touch?
The file transfer to these iDevices is really very easy. Just simply drag and drop the PDF files into the iTune. Here is a screenshot displaying how to manage the PDF files in iTune. All the PDF files will appear in the Books tab in the iTune along with your existing ePub books. Here you can manage these PDF files. These all PDF files from the iTune can be to your devices while connecting the device to the iTune. Here you also have a choice to selectively transfer only few PDFs or all. The PDF files in your iBook apps will appear in a separate library to the ePub books.

You can annotate ePub books in iBooks but this facility is yet not available for PDF files except the option to add a bookmark. You may be interested in reading an other related article How to annotate PDF files in iOS4.
