Interview Of Malik Mumtaz Hussain Qadri.

Punjab’s high profile Governor Salmaan Taseer was assassinated by his own guard in the heart of Islamabad. The guard was described as a religious fanatic apparently incensed by the Governor’s tough stand against blasphemy laws.

Taseer’s killing comes at a time when the defection of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) have reduced the government to a minority and opposition leader Nawaz Sharif has given the government three days to carry out key reforms otherwise the PPP would be expelled from the Punjab provincial government.
Taseer’s last tweet reflected confidence his party would weather the storm. It ran thus: President Zardari’s total support of PM has once again silenced rumours of split in PPP top leadership. Govt is here till 2013.
