Mobilink Pakistan organized blood donation drive at its Islamabad offices. This compaign was carried out in collabration with Fatimid Foundation & Sundas Foundation. The above mentioned NGO’s are colleting blood for children of deserving families suffering from a range of gentic, chronic and life threatening illnesses including Thalassaemia, Hemophilia and many other blood diseases.
Thalassaemia (American spelling, “thalassemia”) is an inherited autosomal dominant blood disease. In thalassemia, the genetic defect results in reduced rate of synthesis of one of the globin chains that make up hemoglobin. Reduced synthesis of one of the globin chains can cause the formation of abnormal hemoglobin molecules, thus causing anemia, the characteristic presenting symptom of the thalassemias.
Haemophilia (also spelled hemophilia in North America, from the Greek haima αἷμα ‘blood’ and philia φιλος ‘friend’[1]) is a group of hereditary genetic disorders that impair the body’s ability to control blood clotting or coagulation, which is used to stop bleeding when a blood vessel is broken. Haemophilia A (clotting factor VIII deficiency) is the most common form of the disorder, occurring at about 1 in 5,000–10,000 male births.[2] Haemophilia B (factor IX deficiency) occurs at about 1 in about 20,000–34,000 male births.
Mobilink officilas appreciated Fatimid Foundation and Sundas Foundation for playing a very positive and supportive role in saving innocent lives and facilitating free of cost transfusion and treatment to needy children.
