ll members of the parliament’s constitutional reforms committee have signed the draft of 18th Amendment after reaching a consensus here on Wednesday. The signing ceremony took place at the committee room in Parliament.Federal Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervaiz Ashraf was the first to sign the draft followed by Naveed Qamar. The committee reached a consensus on the draft of 18th Amendment following the detailed deliberations lasting several months. Though there was no official word from the Committee on the new name for NWFP, sources said it would be renamed Khyber-Pukhtoonkhwa in deference to the sentiments voiced by the three parties who had dug in their heels on the rechristening.

I think only Puktoonkhwa would have been better because it is simple. Anyway, these politions are using names for political gains and our province name got politicized. Anyway congrats guys from NWFP.

It is good if people from NWFP are happy with this new name ” puktoonkhwa”, but they must remember Pakistan first then province name. All the Pukhtoons must be united and save Pakistan from these present corrupt politicians and the govt.

Mr. Qureshi, we believe in integrity of Pakistan. We are happy for new name because we didn’t had a name at all. NWFP is not a name.

Way to go PUKTOONS. I am glad that you finally have your own new name. Punjabi, Sindhi, Bluchi, and finally Puktoons, 4 brothers. I apologize on behalf of Punjabis for not giving you this name long ago.

I think its a great achievment. We have other issues like terrorism, unemployment in our province, but getting a name for our province was also very much needed which was only delayed/denied becouse of Nawaz sharif and other narrow minded politicians like him.Nawaz sharif opposed this name becouse he didnt want to loose his voters in hazara/haripur…..that was the main reason due to which he was denying the right of 90% pushtoons .Anyways ….this land belongs to pakhtoons not to Nawaz sharif or punjabis…and we got what we wanted.Pukhtonistan zindabad…….
