PM requests EC to defer polls in NA-123

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that government will challenge the Lahore High Court (LHC) verdict, which disqualified PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif from contesting by-polls in the Supreme Court (SC).

Addressing the National Assembly members, He also requested the Election Commission of Pakistan to defer the polling process in NA-123 till the verdict of the Supreme Court of Pakistan as regards the appeal. The PM said that he had held consultations in this regard with Mian Nawaz Sharif and Chaudhry Nisar.

Gilani said PPP and PML-N respects each other’s mandate and the PPP-led government will stand by its allies.
