PU Controller Examination Get His PhD After 16 Years

The Punjab University’s Advanced Studies and Research Board (ASRB) meeting held on September 1 approved 16 reports on PhD theses, including one of Prof Zahid Kareem, who is presently working as university’s Controller of Examinations. Interestingly on Sept 1, the ASRB meeting, in which the PhD cases were approved, was also attended by Prof Zahid Kareem being Controller of Exams of the university. Prof Zahid Kareem registered for PhD in Geology on 30.10.1993 got his registration confirmed on 19.02.1995. They said that according to rules, a candidate could submit his/her thesis within seven years after registration. Interestingly, the said faculty member submitted his thesis exactly within seven years on 30.10.2000. They further said reports by foreign referees on the said PhD thesis were submitted on 30.07.2009 and 19.08.2009 respectively while the report by local referee was submitted on 21.08.2009.

LAHORE:THE Punjab University (PU) has awarded three PhD degrees to Zahid Karim Khan, Najam-us-Sehar Sadaf Zaidi and Shazia Anwer Bukhari. Zahid Karim Khan s/o Fazal Karim Khan has been awarded a PhD degree in the subject of Applied Geology after the approval of his research thesis entitled “Study of the Geology of Kirana Group, Central Punjab and Evaluation of its Utilization and Economic Potential as Aggregate”. He completed his thesis under the supervision of PU College of Earth & Environmental Sciences (CEES) Prof Dr Muhammad Nawaz Chaudhry. Najam-us-Sehar Sadaf Zaidi d/o Syed Nusrat Zaidi has been awarded a PhD degree in the subject of Biochemistry & Biotechnology after the approval of her research thesis entitled “Cloning and Over-expression of Cellulase Genes of Thermophilic Bacterial Species”. She completed her thesis under the supervision of PU School of Biological Sciences (SBS) Director Prof Dr Waheed Akhtar. Shazia Anwer Bukhari d/o Syed Anwer Hussain Shah Bukhari has been awarded a PhD degree in the subject of Chemistry after the approval of her research thesis entitled “Homocystine Genotoxicity Measurement of Some Metabolic Diseases in Human”.
