LAHORE: The Punjab government on Tuesday assured Punjab University teachers of strict action against those involved in attacks on teachers.
A meeting of a three-member committee to resolve the university’s matter was held at the Punjab Assembly. Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, the capital city police chief, Higher Education Secretary Ejazul Hasan, Adviser to CM on Higher Education Zaeem Qadri, MPA Khawaja Imran, PU Syndicate member Prof Shaukat Ali attended the meeting.
The teachers demanded that the committee take steps to improve security and academic environment on campus. They also informed the body about their reservations. The committee urged the teachers to bring an end to their ongoing strike. The body also assured the teachers that they would be provided security and better teaching environment. As a follow up of this matter PU ASA is holding a general body meeting today at Institute of Chemistry at 11:30 am to discuss about the fate of ongoing strike.
