Mobilink Ask Employees to immediately tender resignations

mobilink_employees_job_cutLAHORE/ISLAMABAD: More than 200 regular employees of the Mobilink, one of Pakistan’s major telecom operators, are braced to lose their jobs in a development that comes in complete negation of the tall claims the federal government functionaries have repeatedly made to strengthen human resource development in the telecom sector.
According to details, the Mobilink has asked more than 200 of its employees assigned to call centres in Karachi and Islamabad to immediately tender resignations and in return, accept one year salary and school fees for their children while denying them all the related perks and privileges including health insurance, medical allowances and other benefits. The move has sent shock waves in the telecom sector since Mobilink is set to outsource its call centres in Karachi and Islamabad. The telecom company is reported to have conveyed to its employees straight away that there was no surety of their future in case they wanted to continue job with the outsourced company and that too on contractual basis without any additional perks.

“We feel that we have been left in the lurch. On one hand, we are being sacked and asked to accept one-year salary offer. On the other hand, if we don’t accept this offer and continue with the new company, there are high chances our jobs would be terminated any time and even if we are allowed to work, it would be on contractual basis without any perks and privileges except a low salary,” said some of the affected employees on the condition of anonymity.

They asked Minister of State for Information Technology Anusha Rehman to intervene into the matter and play her role. “Where is the telecom minister? More than 200 people are about to get deprived of their livelihood but there is no one to redress their problems. The minister said so many times that government was taking prioritised steps to strengthen human resource development but the reality goes otherwise,” the sources commented.

They feared that the axing of over 200 regular employees would set a dangerous precedent in the telecom sector and other cellular networks may follow the course which would create an atmosphere of job insecurity and uncertainty.

    I am one of the victim. Mobilink is now full of incapable people including CEO, Deputy CEO and Other Senior Management. They all are trying to grab money as much as they can and also creating a panic environment. Mobilink is worst

    I am one of these victims, the actual scenario is that mobilink is paying tenure + one salaries and one year schools fees of children subjected to show the receipts at the end of each month. And the medical inpatient till december 2016 (already ensured policy). Our point is that tenure plus one salary is so samall amount that we regret in wasting our precious years of life. An employee who sacrificed 8 years of life for this company will get only Rs.3,37000 if their gross salary is rs.37k per month.
    We apeal that the gvt. and the relevent ministry should interven atleast for giving us a handsome amount, but it seems that nothing will goes in our favor.

    Even mobilink is not paying the increament arears of 2015 to forcefully resigned enployees who have worked thw whole year in 2015. Alternate jobs in other departments are only given to few people in order to justify itself. Moreover the count is more than 500.

    I feel sorry for the people who are going through this but this is business and if a company wants to make more profit then its their RIGHT. This makes them not very good people but NOT WRONG.

    If we dont want to work in for-profit world then we all should avoid using their services but reality is no one will.

    Kindly correct tenure + one applicable for permanent PMCL employees but the other side only two salaries for those employees who join Mobilink after 2009 or they work as contractual employee.
    The worst part is Mobilink also close the different departments in Karachi like NCU, Operation & IRU etc. These departments performed such a great jobs for customer facilitation since long time.

    We can say that, this is the wrong decision by management of Mobilink.

    They have done with call centre and now starting with technical department soon. If they have benefit in their business with this then they must pay a good amount to every one so some one can start a small business for the family. Government must look into this…

    Gov had only one operator and they have sold that all telecom is in private hands of multinationals who are here to make profit off course and not to create jobs or prosperity. so unsecure environment highest taxation and brutal competition is forcing them do so. They have given target profits you push them further and they will do it more

    Even there Complaince department of VIMPLE COM was also involved as we were mailing them to intervene . the group was not even replying the mails . HR stoped replying our mails when we were asking the issue of our Increments n aprraisals . after ten days of resignation. CEO jaffery rolled out mail for salary review n promotion n bonus to all EIGIBLE employees .wow… ELIGIBLE they calling themselves only . and since last SEVEN years mobilink was not giving any promotions in the customer care department .

    All was pre planed. 500 employees not only lost their jobs but also lost every thing. Those who spent 8,9 or 10,12 even 14,15 years,spent their youth,their prime time and mobilink left them like shit. What a brutality done by the company so called the leading company in Telco and having a slogan of kuch ker k dikha do. Thats bullshit. Government is sleeping as usual and will be. I don’t think that this company will flourish in future. This company destroyed 500 families and for sure will suffer the same.

    It happened in IT dept in 2013 and CS was exempted. Karma is hell and HR is a puppet of its master who just wants to plunder money…… For all job seekers….. Don’t wait just start looking ASAP or someone else will take ur job….

    We have served more than 10years of our life with this company but in end we do not get our yearly insentives even rite after one week they announce it and when we ask them about it as per them it’s a group decision and they can’t do Anythng it’s not about only business profit and loss it’s about a employee dedication and commitment to this company but they prove it they don’t worth it at all

    They are earning blind over profit in every call every load every package every second….but not for employees its for thier ayashi (foriegn trips to night clubs,bars and ….) upper management is doing such acts but not giving any benefit to them which is earned thru them

    Really sorry for the people who are affected. But i am also surprised to see comments here. Its private company and i dont think you can get a better deal than this in Pakistan. i am not sure what you guys are whining about. tenure + 1 Salary plus school fee for one year and medical till end of December. this is one blessing out of disguise for people who have worked for long time with Mobilink. 8 years with 40K means 400K and Mobilink will pay fee for next year and you wont lose medical perks. I am sure with 8years of mobilink experience you can easily get a job in 2-3 months without having to worry about your kitchen or school fee. employees with couple or few years would not be in very good position but this is how private corporations work. I still believe one of the best deal one would get in telecom sector in Pak. Huawei would kick ass before kicking out with nothing. In 2013 people did not get school fee or medical perks i am sure. So stop whining, flex your muscles, if they are outsourcing- 3rd parties will need resource and you have Mobilink on your CV guys. Best of Luck.

    we cannot expect any good news from the Govt, Ms. Anusha Rehman & Company try to make money from the licences of 3G/4G they do not think about other peoples….This all was happens due to the worst policies of the Government, they way they were issued the visa to chines peoples we see more chines in our country rather to see Pakistani peoples on job. Hauwie is best example for this, now they going indulge more & more people in our country……
