Many of Apple IDs have been hacked this week, and these have been used to purchase some apps worth of hundreds of USD ($600 dollars) from the apple App Store. These buying are mainly in the “Books Category”. As a result of this hacking 42 of the top 50 books by revenue are from the seller Thuat Nguyen, An independent Vietnamese iPhone

developer. Many of these book apps were released in April, have little to no customer ratings or reviews, appear to be in Vietnamese. Almost all the technologyrelated blogs i.e Engadget, Mashable, Techie Buzz and MacRumors have highlighted this story as a waring message for the Apple customers. We have selected some lines from macrumors where people have shown their concern about this incident.

Yesterday my credit union contacted me saying there was suspicious activity on my debit card. Sure enough over 10 transactions in the $40-$50 area all on iTunes equaling to $558. This is definitely a problem, since then I’ve e-mailed MSNBC hoping they’ll pick up the story and investigate this problem. — srslylia

A small $1.00-$3.00 charge, then random navigation apps totalling around $190.00. Cancelled the card and now working with credit union to get the charges removed. I will never use my debit card with Itunes again. –tofublock

There is also an ongoing concern on the twitter about this Apple ID hacking. You can see the live updated with the following search terms iTune, Hack, Hacked, App Store, iStore etc
